About this deal

Keep in mind that that’s a lot of caffeine. If you insist on drinking big mugs, you might want to go to a 1.5:1 or even 2:1 ratio. For a 2:1 ratio Americano you would need a roughly 80 to 100 ml of coffee from a moka pot. A two or three cup pot would be good for that purpose. In another place of the box it is written in a very small letters “ The moka aroma, the espresso cream” Suggested: Which sizes Moka Pot Are There And What Do You Need? For recommendations for moka pots for more than one person. Put the coffee maker on the heat source. In case of flame, prevent it from going beyond the rim of the coffee unit. In case of electric/ceramic glass plate, do not use the highest heat. Many people like to drink coffee from a big mug. A moka pot doesn’t brew amount of coffee in those kinds of quantities unless you get a 6 cup one. However, it doesn’t have to. Since you’re brewing an espresso like coffee, you can create quite a few coffee drinks with it. Cappuchino, Latte and Americano being some of the most popular ones.

How to prepare coffee: fill the boiler up to the safety valve with water, insert the funnel tank and add the ground coffee for moka without pressing; close the moka pot and place it on the hob. Wait for coffee to gurgle as it rises to the collector (upper chamber), turn off the gas and, finally, enjoy your delicious coffee! The Brikka 2020 models produces slightly better crema (depends on the coffee used) and increased amount of coffee beverage, compared to older models, but those changes are not such that justify preferring it over previous models that are still being sold. The best size moka pot for a single person depends on how much coffee you drink and in which style. If a double espresso or 8oz. mug is enough for you, a 2 cup (90ml) moka pot is a good size. For people that need/want more, a three cup (130ml) moka pot will be more suitable.

The products I received were made in Romania and Bialetti cared to write on the box “ Developed and designed in Italy”.

Box indicates in English: “ THE ESPRESSO COFFEE” and in Italian: “ L’ESPRESSO COME AL BAR” (translation: “ ESPRESSO AS AT THE BAR”) in a very noticeable place while it is surely NOT a product that produces Espresso!

Another guess is that the 15 ml. and 30 ml. represent the crema. Nothing is mentioned about it in the manual though. In few minutes a small amount of coffee will start coming out and the typical puff of Brikka, signalling the beginning of froth formation, will be heard. The new models of this stove-top Caffettieraare equipped with a new column design with a pressure valve system that uses a small silicone pressure regulator instead of the famous Brikka weight mechanism.

Though Bialetti writes in the manual: “ Never unscrew the valve system (2) from the column.“, I doubt it, as the very small slot of the silicone regulator might get clogged with time. Coffee grinds/oil residue and/or scale might build on it and will change the product’s normal operation.

Large items (delivered by two people, such as appliances and furniture) can be returned using our Home Collection service. As you can see the quoted amount of cups doesn’t directly translate into the amount of coffee you brew. The quoted amount of brew produced divided by the quoted amount of cups is different for every size so the amount of cups is just a very rough indication. If you’re drinking coffee for the caffeine content (let’s face it, many of us do) here’s a little guide to see how moka pot coffee compares to regular pour over coffee; For most people, a double espresso or large mug of pour over coffee is enough to get them through most of the day. That means a 60 ml (1 cup) moka pot would be enough. Bialetti patent of the Brikka weight system was filled in Dec. 1996 and it expired but might still be covered by other Bialetti patents that includes “valve”.

The new valve with its silicone cap, the “O” ring, the very thin funnel and the painted heater container allegedly suggests those parts will be worn and/or become un-functional in relatively short period of use.
